UNITS IN STOCK

Starting April 2025, Glazed Cellar Doors is stocking Steelway units.

  • Just a few of each unit.
  • KD means knock-down.
  • They are in parts, in a box.

1. Steelway makes all four of the standard sizes with triangular bases that Bilco has.

Bilco B = Steelway KD-B   -   51 wide x 64 long x 22 high

BIlco C = Steelway KD-C   -   55 wide x 72 long x 19.5 high

Bilco O = Steelway KD-O   -   47 wide x 58 long x 30 high

Bilco SL = Steelway KD-SL   -   51 wide x 43 1/4 long x 52 high

It is a known problem that no supplier in Central or Northern New Jersey stocks the Bilco units. I don't think anyone stocks them in Eastern PA either. Customers have to order them from Home Depot or Lumber Yards, and they take 2 to 5 weeks to come in. Longer during the Spring and Fall busy seasons.

Yes, we'll slightly upcharge them, but we have the Steelway's here, and they are a far superior unit to the Bilco.

WHO NEEDS THEM URGENTLY?

1. MORTGAGE DELAY. 7 - 10 days before a mortgage closes, they'll send an inspector. If the Bilco is old and rusty, they'll flag it even if it's not leaking. And a leaker, 100% it will be flagged. The entire purchase process is suddenly on hold until the darn Bilco is replaced. We get several calls like this every year. Often we'll squeeze it into the schedule, to make the install happen.

2. DAMAGE.. Sometimes a Bilco is severely damaged by a construction truck, a falling tree, or a number of other reasons. The house is not secure until it is replaced

3. RODENT EXTERMINATION. Sometimes a house becomes overrun with mice, and they are just everywhere. You can hear them inside the kitchen cabinets, the crunching noise of their teeth nibbling. It is determined that they are coming in through the front gap of the Bilco. And a new Bilco is going to have the same size gap. The Steelway units are much more critter-proof. They close tighter. Steelway is the brand you need.

4. CONTRACTOR. You are doing a multi-phase project for a homeowner. Part of the project is the cellar door. You want to do the cellar door FIRST, especially if the project involves James Hardie siding, new vinyl siding, or making a masonry patio. You simply can't want to wait for the Bilco brand to be delivered to your supplier, and you don't want the Gordon brand. Gordon either doesn't fit exactly, or the customer wants a sturdier door with the piston pump. Steelway is a great option, it's a superior brand to Bilco, and I have them in stock. Whether I'm 30 minutes away, or 90 minutes away, it's worth the drive out here.
